UWSC Leads Disaster Relief in Sumner County
Kim Baker, president and CEO of the Gallatin Area Chamber of Commerce, is without a doubt the leading advocate of all things Gallatin, but she also pours her endless supply of energy and enthusiasm into promoting United Way of Sumner County. “The title is President and CEO but I consider myself a community champion, connector, convener and one of Gallatin’s biggest cheerleaders,” Kim said of her Chamber role.
Community Life Bridge provides rides to senior adults through their volunteer-based Community Life Ride program. As volunteers provide rides, they build relationships with the riders, getting to know many personal details of their lives.
United Way of Sumner County continues to add new faces to its incredible group of volunteers.
The United Way of Sumner County 2023 Winter Care Drive collected 313 gently-used coats plus 190 new hats, 515 new pairs of socks, and 245 new pairs of gloves for a total in-kind amount of $2,317.62 in newly donated items!
The 2023 Fall Classic Golf Scramble hosted 36 teams of 144 registered golfers on October 16, 2023, at the Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club in Hendersonville and netted over $32,000! That's 14% over the event's budgeted goal!
Golfers began checking in at 10:30am which gave them time for a few swings at the Driving Range, sponsored by Fans of Bryson Dew, and to try their luck at the Putting Contest, sponsored by Kia of Murfreesboro. A bratwurst lunch, sponsored by TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center and TriStar Portland Medical Center was served at 11am.
United Way Agency, Gallatin Shalom Zone, offers a free ESL program that provides free childcare to participants while they take classes.
