The 2023 Fall Classic Golf Scramble hosted 36 teams of 144 registered golfers on October 16, 2023, at the Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club in Hendersonville and netted over $32,000! That's 14% over the event's budgeted goal!
Golfers began checking in at 10:30am which gave them time for a few swings at the Driving Range, sponsored by Fans of Bryson Dew, and to try their luck at the Putting Contest, sponsored by Kia of Murfreesboro. A bratwurst lunch, sponsored by TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center and TriStar Portland Medical Center was served at 11am.
Before kicking off the shotgun start at noon, participants were welcomed by United Way of Sumner County (UWSC) CEO, Erin Birch, and by Eagle Sponsor, State Representative, Johnny Garrett. UWSC Board Chair, Len Silverman also spoke to the crowd to show his appreciation for their support of United Way before Club Pro, Tom Mantegna, shared the rules of play and sent the golfers on their way on carts sponsored by ITW StampTech Fasteners!
Golfers didn't seem to mind the chilly weather and drizzling rain. But unfortunately, none of them were able to sink a Hole-in-One for the prize sponsored by Miracle Ford! Players enjoyed promo items provided by Servpro Headquarters, which served as both the Front 9 Sponsor AND the Back 9 Sponsor, as well as from Birdie Sponsor, Swan Medical Aesthetics. Hydration Sponsor, Wilson Bank & Trust, delivered sodas and waters to golfers donated by Pepsi. Civil Land Company served as Hospitality Sponsor for the beer cart.
As golfers completed the day, they enjoyed desserts at the 19th Hole sponsored by Boger Construction and a bourbon tasting compliments of Spirit Sponsor, Lipman Brothers.
During the Awards Ceremony, sponsored by ITW Dynatec, Team Kelley was recognized as 1st Place, Flight A with players Lee Kelley, Billy Balturshot, Leon Harris, and Ricky Sylvestri. Team Conner won 2nd Place, Flight A with players Chuck Conner, Mike Taylor, Rick Barnett, and Kent Sims. Team Wood Financial Group took 1st Place, Flight B with players Wesley Wood, Kyle Steveson, Houston Loper, and Spencer Ader while Team Publix DSS was awarded 2nd Place, Flight B with players Brian Sampedro, Joe Baca, Donald Calabrese, and Vincent Mingione. For the ladies, Team Chicks with Sticks won 1st Place with players Jean Montgomery, Rhonda Manous, Julie Marr, and Janet Watkins. Congratulations also goes to Mike Connel who won the Putting Contest.
