A young lady returned home to Gallatin to live with her mother after losing everything she had in the Paradise, California, fires. Gallatin CARES provided her family with supplemental groceries and gave her clothes for her and her daughter, including appropriate clothing for job interviews. Since she didn't have transportation, her employment prospects were limited to within walking distance. Gallatin CARES helped her locate some job opportunities close to her residence. She found a job at a local grocery store and was eventually able to secure an apartment. Gallatin CARES provided her with some basic furniture needs, as well as some household items. A few months later, when she expressed an interest in seeking job opportunities beyond walking distance and asked about getting a bicycle, a United Way of Sumner County Board Member who heard her story, donated one for her.
