How We Drive Community Impact

What We Do

United Way of Sumner County is a local non-profit mobilizing communities to action so everyone can thrive. Since 1977, we’ve worked to address our community’s greatest challenges and create meaningful solutions. We look at how our community’s challenges are connected, then bring people and resources together to address them. By listening to local needs and responding to everyday challenges and moments of crisis, we create pathways to better health, youth opportunity, financial security, and community resilience. Working together with our neighbors, we’re building stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities for all.

Our 2025-2026 (FY26) Impact Areas

To create meaningful, lasting impact, we focus on what matters most to our community. Our four Impact Areas—Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, and Community Resilience—represent the essential building blocks for a thriving Sumner County. These areas were chosen based on local needs, community input, and data about the most pressing issues affecting our neighbors. Through these Impact Areas, United Way of Sumner County supports initiatives that help individuals and families overcome barriers, build stability, and achieve their full potential—right here at home.

The chart below outlines each Impact Area and the specific community initiatives we support through our nonprofit partners.

Our Partners

We connect our local partner agencies who specialize in these four areas, to families confronting issues like financial instability, food insecurity, illiteracy, inaccessible healthcare, lack of affordable housing, abuse and neglect, affordable childcare, senior isolation, and more, empowering every individual to achieve their full potential where it matters most – right here in Sumner County.

How Your Donations Power Community Solutions

When you give to United Way of Sumner County, you’re investing in a proven model that turns generosity into action. Donations are pooled into our Community Fund, reviewed through a rigorous, volunteer-led allocations process, and distributed to trusted local nonprofits. These partner agencies provide direct services that address urgent needs, expand opportunities, and strengthen the well-being of our entire community.
