Seeking to bridge the transportation gap for older adults 60+, Community Life Bridge operates a volunteer-driven, membership-based ride program, Community Life Ride (CLR). Qualified, screened volunteers provide rides to program members in order to support their independence and quality of life. Affordable and accessible, CLR combats isolation through connection with volunteers, giving all involved a sense of community.

Provides compassionate and confidential counseling services to women and families involved in unplanned pregnancies. In addition, provides age-appropriate and medically accurate sexual risk avoidance education to 6th-12th grade students in middle and high schools, with the goal of reducing sexually transmitted infections and teen pregnancies. The purpose of the program is for teens to know their intrinsic worth and value and to help equip them to make healthy emotional and physical choices in relationships.

Provides high-quality comprehensive healthcare regardless of age or the ability to pay. We offer a 24-hour call line, interpretation services, and specialty referrals. In clinic services include Women’s Health Care; diabetes and hypertension management; Behavioral Health; dental care and pediatrics (via other locations) and care for unhoused patients. We provide exams, lab tests, diagnostic services, disease prevention, immunizations, nutrition counseling, PrEP services to prevent HIV transmission and medication assisted treatment for opioid addiction. Provides an outpatient program for substance abuse offenders that allows them to avoid incarceration and receive the assistance they need to lead drug-free, productive lives. As a result of the program, lives are saved, families are re-united, and tax dollars that would have been spent on incarceration are saved. Recovery Court’s recidivism rate is 13% compared to 47% for substance abuse offenders in Tennessee.

  3. The Urban Leadership Experience is a dynamic program designed for middle and high school students focusing on leadership skills, civic engagement, and post-secondary opportunities. Urban Leadership is a week-long intensive in July with monthly outings through the school year.

Although people have the right to an attorney in criminal matters, there is no right to civil legal aid. Every day, thousands of Tennesseans interact with the civil justice system. An older person applies for benefits. A homeowner deals with the bank or a mortgage servicer. A domestic violence victim seeks a restraining order. A renter fights unlawful eviction. All of these are civil legal problems and Legal Aid lawyers work to make sure those protections are not violated. LAS provides access to justice with our free civil legal services so that low-income, vulnerable residents have their livelihoods, their health, and their families protected.

In addition, the Center provides victim advocacy services throughout the prosecution process, specific trauma-focused therapy free of charge to families for any child who has a disclosure of abuse, and prevention educational programs for children, teachers, law enforcement officials, day care providers, and others throughout the community. Serves unhoused individuals in Sumner County year-round. In January and February, we offer Friday night shelter, meals, and transportation. Throughout the year, we continue providing meals and support services, including help with SNAP and Social Security benefits. As the county’s only dedicated program for the unhoused, we use grant funds to supply food, toiletries, blankets, sleeping bags, hotel stays, gas cards, and utility deposits as needed. Funding also supports access to IDs, birth certificates, and a mobile food and clothing closet that operates throughout the year.
