Advancing the Common Good: United Way's Approach

LIVE UNITED is not just a catchy tagline; it really is a comprehensive approach to meeting our community's needs. It means being proactive to prevent or lessen challenges in the community, as well as mobilizing the resources necessary to help those in need right now. Since 1977, United Way of Sumner County has addressed the daily challenges of life; now, we are working with our partners to ensure everyone in Sumner County has the best opportunities for a good life. The focus is on four key areas as building blocks to community and individual success:

EDUCATION - ensuring individuals reach their full potential

INCOME - helping families become financially stable and independent

HEALTH - improving people's health

REBUILDING LIVES - helping put lives back together

If one of these building blocks is removed, the rest of the blocks will topple. The stronger the support between these blocks, the stronger the community will be. United Way of Sumner County uses this approach to ensure its partner agencies receive the support and funding they need to succeed and have the greatest community impact.

Each Sumner County resident can have an impact. Consider contributing to your workplace campaign and if you have time, to volunteer with United Way or one of our partner agencies. If you have a cause you are passionate about, speak out or help someone else find their voice by being that voice. Living United means joining with others in working together to advance the common good.
